IF THERE'S NO I IN TEAM, WHY DO I FEEL SO ALONE
Still in his ring gear, Tony Gamble stares at the ground as the ambulance transporting his partner from the Mercedes Benz Stadium to Grady Memorial gets swallowed up by the darkness. There are no flashing lights, no sirens, just heavy breathing as Tony's nostrils flare with each inhale.
He looks to his left, but there's no one by his side.
No Dawkins.
No Rose.
No Masters.
No Alexie.
No Ivan.
He turns his attention to the right, but doesn't find anyone standing there either.
No Bobby.
No Coral.
No Cancer.
Doozer might be there, but he doubts it.
There's no one there, because everyone has their own issues to deal withโฆtheir own problems to overcome. Defending the tag team titles was his and Hessian's issue to deal with, their problem to overcome, and they failed. They lost the tag team titles, but more importantly, Tony may have just lost his tag team partner.
He clenches his fists, the thought of how alone he is at the moment slowly creeping into his mind, screaming louder than the crowd inside the stadium that there is no one there for him. Thoughts of the lower part of Hessian's leg dangling as he stretched his knee, still surprised himself about what had just happened, kept repeating in his mind. The sick twisted grin on Daytona's face as he backed away from what he had done, happier than a fiend with a mountain of coke and four racks of singles at Strokers, kept flashing in and out as a constant reminder of who is truly to blame for how their title reign had ended.
He turns around and heads back to the entrance of the arena they used to bring Hessian out to the ambulance. Not to get revenge on Daytona, not to help Ivan in his war against Sykes, not even to change. He just wants to grab his bags and get the hell out of the building before he does something he'll regret.
His night is done.
