I’ve struggled with this all week.

This should be the easiest thing I’ve ever done. Gas up one of my best friends on his way out the door and help him go out on his own terms. Throw in a couple cheeky references to pop him and the boys.

I had a whole “Beating Dan Ryan” section planned where the whole band FINALLY shows up for a gig, and you think they’re going to play “Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)” by Green Day or “Forever Young” by Rod Stewart.

But instead they play “Everybody’s Workin’ For the Weekend” by Loverboy.

Fade to black, credits roll.

I had an idea where I’d do a “Dan Ryan, This is Your Life” bit and cut to a scene where, after their [REDACTED] match at [REDACTED DUE TO DRONE STRIKE], LT throws a Dan Ryan action figure into the trash and yells, “MARK ASS STOOGE! INDY…NERD!!!!”

But I got all up in my feels whenever I started writing. I’d start, delete, start, delete.

And I don’t know why; it’s not like you’re going anywhere.

But it’s hard to put into words the impact you’ve had on my life and in my time in this game.

You’ve had my back since very early in the early days. You’ve stood up for me countless times when others knocked me down over stupid, petty bullshit. I love our dumb jokes and inside references. Drinking and laughing over stupid shit in Dallas was the highlight of my trip.

I’m so glad we were able to get our friendship back to where it was before.

You, like Dan is to LT, have been my toughest opponent and my biggest cheerleader. You pushed me to be better, because that’s what great writers do.

We all already know that, though; you write Scott Hunter too.

So even though Dan Ryan’s turning in his retirement paperwork, he won’t be out of work. I think it would be a disservice to not let today’s PRIME roster see what Dan Ryan’s all about.

I do want to say one more thing, because time’s a tickin’.

You’ve been so much more than a friend. You’ve been a sounding board, a shoulder, a tag team partner, and the brother that I never had.

That makes you family.

And as you know, “Ohana means family. Family means nobody gets left behind. Or forgotten.”

And you can’t use that title against me in a counter-RP like you did in [REDACTED DUE TO DRONE STRIKE] since you posted first.
